Goodluck Jonathan 'disturbed' by Buhari's probe plan

Goodluck Jonathan is said to be disturbed by the determination by Buhari to probe the alleged illegal withdrawal of $ 2.1 billion from the Excess Crude Account (ECA). Jonathan is set to protest the moves by President Buhari to probe some of his administration's activities.

Goodluck Jonathan took his grievances to the National Peace Committee instituted by General Abdulsalami for the 2015 elections and he is unhappy with the corruption tag placed on his administration.

''The former President returned into the country at the weekend but he is unhappy with the bashing of his administration, Jonathan believes that Buhari is blackmailing him and his ministers, contrary to the terms of the 2015 poll peace agreement which led to a smooth transition from the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), '' a source said.

'' I think Jonathan approached the Abdulsalami Committee so that he will be left alone by Buhari who openly said he inherited an empty treasury from his predessor,'' the source added.

The withdrawal of $ 2.1 billion from the ECA has led to a war of words between the former Finance Minister Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole. The former Finance Minister said Jonathan approved the withdrawal of the said amount from the account.
