Pictures: Most expensive facial transplant surgery

picture showing Norris before the accident, after and now. the skull shows the reconstruction
According to Skynews, A man injured in a gun accident 15 years ago has been given a new face, tongue, teeth and jaw in what surgeons claim is the world's most comprehensive face transplant.

Richard Norris, 37, was shot in the face in 1997 and lost his nose, lips and most of the movement in his mouth. Since then he has undergone multiple life-saving and reconstructive surgeries but he did not feel he could return to society. He wore a prosthetic nose and a mask even when entering hospital for the transplant.

But last week, during a 36-hour operation, University of Maryland doctors gave him a new face from an anonymous donor whose organs saved five other patients' lives on the same day.

  1. Wow! Impressive tho bt he looks totally different. Hope he'll fit in like he did before the surgery.

  2. nice posting.. thanks for sharing..

  3. This is the real power of plastic surgery. Reconstructive surgeries will always make miracles because this is definitely a miracle for this man.

I've heard people saying they are against plastic surgery but they didn't knew plastic surgery is more than a new set of boobs or a nose job or something, even if these procedures are also designed to make people happier. I have a friend that had a plastic surgery Toronto to fix a nose problem and I can say she was another person after the surgery...more confident and definitely happier:)
