Governor Samuel Ortom-Response to amnesty programme poor



Mr Ortom, who led members of his cabinet, legislators from both the State and National Assemblies to Benue South, stressed the need for all political and traditional leadership to dig deep into their communities to ensure peace prevails in the zone.

He expressed concern over the rising cases of criminality in the zone as a result of illicit arms in the hands of non-state actors, who willfully refuse to embrace the Amnesty Programme that has brought peace in the other two senatorial districts in the state.
This is coming few weeks after the meeting with Fulani herdsmen and local farmers in Benue South Senatorial District, where there is a reported rise in cases of insecurity, especially in Idoma land.
