Zimmerman aquitted of murdering 17 year old Trayvon Martin

George Zimmerman who claimed to have shot 17year old Trayvon Martin in self defense has been found 'not guilty' by a Florida jury ( The six jurors -- all of them women -- deliberated for 16½ hours. Five of the women are white; one is a minority)

The verdict came after a 5 week trial that has made some celebrities speak out against the killing of the teenager.

Shortly after the verdict which saw Zimmerman displaying very little visible reaction except shaking the hands of his attorneys & smiling after court was adjourned. Martin's expressed their emotions through twitter.
 
His mother wrote "Even though I am broken hearted my faith is unshattered I WILL ALWAYS LOVE MY BABY TRAY," 
 
Zimmerman's brother, Robert Zimmerman Jr., was said to have commented on how relieved his family was at the verdict quick to add..
" I don't think this is a time for high-fiving," the brother said. "I acknowledge -- we all have acknowledged -- that Mr. Martin, Trayvon Martin, lost his life. (But) it was not an act of murder. It was not an act of manslaughter."
