Egyptian army overthrows President Morsi

After days of widespread nationwide protests in Egypt, the Military leaders today stepped in, in a move calculated to pull the country from the brink of collapse. Millions of protesters took to the street against the poor governance by the President Morsi led team.

The head of the Army, Lt. General Abdel Fattah el-Sisi announced a roadmap which included the suspension of the constitution, the appointment of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Constitutional Court, Adli Mansour, as the Interim President. He is expected to form a new government, as well as hold early Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

The deposed President Morsi has called what has just taken place a full military coup d'état.
