Death Toll at Yobe school attack now upto 42

The death toll from the pre-dawn barbaric attack on a Government Secondary School at Mamudo in Potiskum, Yobe State by suspected Islamic terrorists, has reached 42.

The attackers set fire to the school building while the students slept and then shot them as they ran to escape the blaze, some of the victims died of burns while some were of gun shot. Some of the survivors were being treated of gun shot wounds and burns also.

Meanwhile the Yobe State Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam has shut down all the secondary schools in the state and in a statement by his spokesman Ruben Abati, the President has also condemned the killings saying: “The killing is barbaric, completely wicked. Anybody who will target innocent children for any kind of grief will certainly go to hell”.
