Plans to reduce salaries of NASS member has put on hold





The plans to reduce salaries of NASS members has been put on hold for now. The members have failed to agree on the proposal to cut their salaries and allowances.

The Senate Adhoc Committee had presented a report which would review the salaries and allowances of lawmakers on the 4th of August. The meeting which was held behind closed doors, lasted for about four hours and the lawmakers decided to step down the debate on the report for further legislative input.

Senator Dino Melaye, the Chairman Senate Adhoc Committee on Media and Publicity while addressing journalists, said that the senate in its wisdom decided to step down further considerations on the report of the Adhoc committee on the review of the finances of the senate pending full consultations with all stake holders.

The 2015 budget for the National Assembly is about N 150 billion.
