Oscar Pistorius will be released on parole on the 21st of August. This is after he has served 10 months of a five year sentence for culpable homicide of his girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp, reports say.

South African sentencing guidelines say non-dangerous prisoners should spend only one-sixth of a custodial sentence behind bars. A prison service statement said Pistorius would spend the remainder of his time under ''correctional supervision'', a form of house arrest.
His 29 year old girlfriend, Reeva, was a law graduate and model. She died on the 14 of February, 2013, when Pistorius shot her through a locked toilet door at his Pretoria home.
Prosecutors pushed for murder but the athlete maintained he fired in the mistaken belief an intruder was hiding behind the door. The state won the bid to appeal the culpable homicide conviction and will seek for a murder case in November when the case will be heard.
He faces a prison sentence of 15 years if he is convicted of murder.
