THE BIRTH OF MAVIN RECORDS
At 2.25am on the 7th of May 2012 it was dead in the night, my pure and sole intention was to have my daily "in sleep" ritual which requires me getting up from my bed to use the little wee wee room, the ritual also requires me picking up my bleached red blackberry device to check recently updated status and also trends on twitter.

What I saw and read on twitter sent cold chills of excitement down my veins; Behold Michael Collins AKA Don jazzy Africa’s number one producer twitted "MAVIN ACTIVATED" and he posted a link to of a website, without much ado I clicked on the link, at this moment I was lost in thoughts as to what he was up to, while it was opening I went back to my twitter page and The Don had twitted again "HEY PEOPLE NEED YOUR HELP ON THIS ONE ONCE AGAIN. PLS HELP TELL A FRIEND TO TELL A FRIEND #MAVINRECORDS GOD BLESS"

Ok let me take us back a bit, in the last couple of months the media was awash with horrid news about a proposed split between our favorite duo Dapo Oyebanji and Michael Collins.




The latter confirmed the rumor on twitter on 17th of March 2012 he posted four (4) tweets

1. "IT IS WITH A HEAVY HEART I ANNOUNCE THE END OF A LONG ERA AND THE BEGINNING OF A……

2. SOME OF THE RUMOURS U HAVE ALL HEARD RECENTLY ARE SAD BUT TRUE.

3. THE WAY FORWARD NOW IS TO MAKE SURE I KEEP BRINGING YOU GUYS MORE OF THE BEAUTIFUL MUSIC Y’ALL LOVE TO DANCE TO.

4. AND TO END D OLD ERA I WILL B DONATING D PROCEEDS OF MY PRODUCTION CATALOGUE FROM DAY 1 TILL DATE TO 5 CHARITY ORGANIZATIONS THANKS. IDJA

After the above tweets, we witnessed a flurry of allegations in the media from both camps, from the Ebony Magazine interview to the exchange of mails saga, to Wand coal’s tweet that came with so much controversy as to who actually sent the tweet.

I don’t intend to dwell in the past as we have moved from the uncertain era to the era of certainty, without delay I checked his bio on twitter and I smiled as I read it "FOUNDER/PRESIDENT MAVIN RECORDS, G.O.O.D MUSIC PRODUCER"

I checked my timeline and in less than 20mins #Mavinrecords was buzzing all over my timeline, as I type my not to long article and mail to don jazzy @Mavinrecords is less than seven (7) hours old on twitter with just one tweet and following just thirteen people but it has an incredible Five Thousand followers.

After reading my tweet about Mavinrecords my brother called me from the United Kingdom and asked what Mavinrecords was all about because it’s trending here.

We have all witnessed the beginning of a new era and my advice to the Founder of Mavinrecords is to please run the record company like a corporate organization which Mohits record lacked, engage professionals to handle the business of music, I trust you to take care of the business of production of good tunes, run Mavinrecords with the aim that it’s going to

outlive you, put proper structures in place, take up the services of Publicist, Lawyers, Business Developers, Strategist solely for Mavinrecords.

I am thrilled and in high anticipation as the collaboration album Solar Plexus drops tomorrow the 8th of May 2012.
