The Enugu Judicial workers has called off its 24 weeks old strike. The Enugu State chapter of the Judiciary Union of Nigeria on Wednesday called off the strike it embarked on to compel the State government to comply with constitutional provisions on the independence and financial autonomy of the Judiciary.
The judicial workers decided to call of the strike after a meeting with the Enugu State, Governor Ifeanyi Ugwanyi at the government house. Comrade Chindeu Mbah, the State Chairman of JUSUN who spoke to journalists after the 4 hour meeting disclosed that the members of the union will resume work on Thursday. He also said the Governor has agreed by the terms of the agreement ealier signed between the immediate past administration and the union.
''The strike embarked on by the Judiciary Staff Union Enugu State is hereby suspended.
'' I am calling on workers to resume work immediately'' he said
According to Mbah, another meeting with governor is slated for December and the governor has promised that if the economy improves he will pay us the Consolidated Judiciary salary structure.
