President Muhammadu Buhari has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the rule of law and warns that proven acts of human rights violation by the Armed Forces will be punished under his leadership.

Addressing officers, troops and newly commissioned cadets at the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), in Kaduna State, the President reminded them that the rule of law applies to the Armed Forces as much as any other institution in the country.
President Buhari urged them to be prepared to play their roles as junior military officers in tackling the prevailing security challenges confronting the nation.
The president gave assurances of the federal government’s commitment to improving the welfare of military officers who laid down their lives for security of the nation.
President Buhari, said that the government is determined to confront current challenges and long term plans for the development of the Nigerian Armed forces.
Observing that security remains the most important challenge in his administration, he said the nation expects exemplary conduct and professionalism from officers and men of the Armed Forces at all times and in all situations.
