Man flees after wife delivers triplets

Mrs. Bosede Akapo and her triplets

A farmer in the western Nigerian state of Ogun has abandoned his wife after she delivered triplets.
The incident happened in the small community of Afojupa village, in
Obafemi/Owode local government area of the state.
Mrs.Bosede Akapo, 30, who already had two children, aged five and eight, before the arrival of the triplets on 24 July expressed surprise that her husband,Biodun, went into hiding after he got the information that she delivered triplets.
The babies were delivered in a private maternity home in the village and with Biodun vanishing, the monarch of the nearby town of Owode-Egba, Oba Kolawole Sowemimo, settled the bill.
Since she left the clinic, Bosede has not seen her husband, nor has he bothered to see the new babies, he fathered.
Mrs Akapo, now mother of five, explained that her runaway hubby is a
farmer and was not at home when she began to feel labour pains.
She explained that she was assisted by a neighbour who took her on a
motorcycle to the Maternity Home where she was later delivered of the
triplets.
She claimed she did not know she was carrying three babies as she had no access to ultrasound scanner, because of the cost.
According to her, “I never thought of three babies in my womb until
when I put to bed.”
She had to contact the traditional ruler of Owode-Egba, who eventually
bailed her out and further assisted with supply of baby wears and medical items.
Her worry is the fact that her hubby is yet to come home even after
she had been discharged from the hospital with the babies and all
efforts to reach him have been fruitless.
” I am begging him to come home for the sake of these innocent babies”, she pleaded.
The mother of five, however, called on Governor Ibikunle Amosun, individuals and various groups to come to her aid.

Oba Kolawole Sowemimo also joined her in seeking assistance from government and philanthropists to keep the family alive. The Oba guessed that the husband fled because of the challenges of providing for the expanded family.
