Supreme Court rules in favour of Akwa Ibom State against Cross River over the 76 contentious oil wells


The Supreme Court of Nigeria today in a landmark ruling awarded the 76 Contentious oil blocks to Akwa Ibom State.

The Cross River State government had taken the Akwa Ibom State govenrment to court over the matter which is directly related to revenue accurals to the oil producing states of Nigeria.

These oil wells, situated in the Atlantic Ocean were given to Akwa Ibom State when Nigeria ceeded Bakassi Peninsular to Cameroun.
