Dalung, who spoke with reporters in Katsina at the weekend, said he will sanitize and introduce transparency in the ministry.
“My mission in the Ministry of Youth and Sports is one to sanitize the ministry because it is a common knowledge that corruption stinks from the inside, especially sports ministry and other aspects of our youth development programme,” said Dalong.
He noted that investors would be gingered to do more if the nation’s sports handlers are transparent in the management of investments.
“Sports as an industry cannot be managed alone by government; government today is a major stakeholder in terms of provision of sports facilities, and maintenance of those facilities.
“We will open our doors to foreign investments so that corporate bodies can participate, and then we limit our activities to the maintenance of our facilities and encourage the recruitment of talents through grassroots sports,” Dalong said.
On the high expectation of Nigerians, the minister warned that they should not lose touch of the fact the President from inception had alerted the nation on the situation on ground.
“It is very easy to destroy but of course, it takes tolerance and patience to rebuild, and because we are determined to rebuild, Nigerians will still have exercise patience and tolerance as we take major steps to lay a solid foundation for nation building but we will indeed not betray the aspirations,” he assured.
