At about 8:30 a.m there was sporadic shooting in Festac Town and robbers numbering over 40 stormed the Diamond and Access banks at 4th avenue in Festac Town and carted away and undisclosed amount of money.

The shooting lasted about an hour. The robbers were dressed in military camouflage and armed with military riffles of various caliber.
The area commander 'E' mobilised a point team of Area 'E' and divisional Headquarters and engaged the robbers numbering about 40.
The gun battle forced the robber to abandoned over N27 Million and forty rounds of live ammunition. The case has been referred to Special Anti Robbery Squad for discreet investigation.
The commissioner of Police, Lagos State wishes to reassure the residents of Lagos of their safety and urge them to go about their normal business as he has vowed to stop at nothing in unraveling the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
