Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has set the admission cut off mark at 180 and 150 for 2015/2016 UTME admission for degree awarding, Nigerian Certificate Education and National Diploma awarding institutions in Nigeria. The cut mark was adopted by the stakeholders at the 2015 combined policy meeting on admission to degree, National Certificate of Education (NCE) and National Innovation Diploma-Awarding Institution yesterday in Abuja.
They also adopted the 60:40 Science/Arts ratio and the 70:30 Technology/Non-technology ratio for admission.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Macjohn Nwaobiala, urged tertiary institutions to adhere to conducts and agreements of the meeting. He also commended JAMB on its success story on the Computer Based Test (CBT) and the CBT has come to stay.
Prof. Ojerinde, Registrar for JAMB, while briefing the press said:
''We have decided that the cut off mark will be 180 for universities and 150 for non-degree institutions. However we welcome the new fold of institutions admitting this year. So we hope that our vice Chancellors, registrars, rectors and provosts will stick to the position and go and implement accordingly so that by October 31, there will be end to the admission for 2015/2016 year, that's the essence.''
He also noted that University of Portacourt and Kaduna Polytechnic were the highest falters in admission regularisation, he said universities that wont adhere to rules will be sanctioned. He also stated that the blind performed well with the Braille technology.
