As the deadline of the Bank Verification Number (BVN) registration comes to an end today, Nigerians are seeing rushing into their various banks for registration. There's a rush because a lot of people are trying to bead the deadline. Though the the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) gave this directive since last year for Nigerians to register.
From the look of things a lot Nigerians didn't register till the deadline was close, and now the banks are filled to brim. Several customers have been complaining about the slow network and some have to queue in the sun for several hours outside the banks. They are and hoping that the CBN will extend the deadline to enable people register. Some banks threatened to freeze the accounts of those who fail to register.
Sources say the deadline has been extended to October. The registration is suppose to curb crime and fraudulent activities.
