$620,000 bribe: Trial of Farouk Lawan, Emenalo commences today

Just when you think the Federal Government will allow every corrupt officer go scot free, they have taken one right step to charge Farouk Lawan over the infamous bribe he took from Zenon boss, Femi Otedola. The bribe was meant to ensure Zenon oil was removed from the list of companies that were inverstigated for subsidy fraud.

The arraignment of Lawan alongside the secretary of the adhoc committee, Mr. Boniface Emenalo accused of demanding for $3,000,000 will commence today, February 1st, 2012. They will be tried for “Violation of the Corrupt Practices and Other-Related Offences Act, 2000.”
This is the right step in the right direction but the outcome will determine if indeed our Government is interested in fighting corruption.
