Remembering MKO Abiola on June 12

Just last week, the President, Muhammadu Buhari annouced June 12 as the new Democracy day in honour of the  late MKO Abiola who won the election in a landslide victory.

Today makes it 25 years since the annulment of the June 12 election and to mark it, the Fededal Government is holding an investiture in his honor, Lagos state unveiled a statue of  MKO and several states declared today a public holiday..

 The Federal Government also honoured the Late Chief  MKO Abiola with the the GCFR title.

The then military administrator Rtd. Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida annulled the June 12 1993 presidential election where MKO Abiola defeated Bashir Tofa of the National Republican Convention (NRC) candidate in land slide defeat.
