APC accepts Sakari and Dogara

With the crisis in NASS, All Progressives Congress (APC) members met at Abuja for a meeting which started some minutes after 3:00pm was held behind closed doors. The APC has accepted the leadership of the National Assembly, although peace talks are still going on. The party was in crisis over the election of Senator Saraki and Honorable Dogara as Senate President and Speaker House of Representatives respectively, against the party's recommendation. The Senate also ignored the party's recommendations for principal officers and went ahead to appoint its own officers, although the lower chamber is yet to appoint its principal officers.

Okorocha, the Imo State Governor said progress has been made but  he did not give details.

''I'm happy to announce to all of you that the peace at the National Assembly is at sight. We have had discussions and we have all agreed to accept peace. So you will not see any more disagreement.''

He also said...

''Both the Senate President, Speaker, distinguished Senator Lawan and Honorable Femi Gbajabimila will work together for the unity of the National Assembly and for the progress of our party."

The meeting was also attended by Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki, Speaker House of Representatives, Honorable Yakubu Dogara, the party's preferred candidate for Senate President, Senator Ahmed Lawan and the peaty's preferred candidate for Speaker, House of Reps, Honorable Femi Gbajabiamila
