Arik Air suspends flights, leaves alot of passengers stranded

Arik Air has reportedly suspended all its flights out of Lagos leaving passengers at the Murtala Muhammed Airport stranded. Reports have it that alot of passengers are also starnded in both Portharcourt and Abuja airports.

There are several versions of  the cause of the suspension but the top three are;
  • Arik Air flights have been grounded by labour unions over unpaid dues to them.
  • Arik Air suspended all its domestic operations due to the “persistent hostility of the Ministry of Aviation and Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) management.” - Premium Times
  • Arik Air was shut down by Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, over an N18 billion debt the airline owes the aviation authority.
This is coming less than 48 hours after the Senate Committe on Aviation recommended AriK Air as Nigeria’s national flag carrier.

  1. ARIK AIR SHOULD JEALOUSLY GUARD THEIR LEADERSHIP POSITION IN THE AVIATION SECTOR. THEY SHOULD AVOID ANY PITFALLS THAT MAY JEOPARDIZE THEIR EXCELLENCE.
