Senator Usman Albishir dies in auto crash

The former Senator representing Yobe north, Senator Usman Albishir is dead.

Albishir died this morning in a ghastly motor accident along Kano-Zaria expressway in Kura Local Government area.

"He died as a result of injuries he sustained in many parts of his body. His police guard equally sustained injuries," a source close to the late Senator said.

A two-time ANPP Senator, Albishir was in the Senate in 1999 and 2007 representing Yobe North constituency.

He gunned for the Yobe governorship in 2007 under the ANPP, won the primaries but was replaced by the late Mamman Ali.

Albashir joined the PDP in the build up to the 2011 election but lost to Ibrahim Gaidam.

Funeral arrangements are being made at his residence Bompai, Kano, according to Islamic dictates.
