Gov Suswam plays Bestman at a Cook's wedding

A cook that serves Fr. Michael Tumba at Abuja had the unusual privilege of his State Governor being his bestman at his wedding which took place over the weekend at Our Lady Perpetual Help Cathedral, in Makurdi, Benue State.

Peter Anyiman while expressing his delight said he couldn't have wished for a better wedding and the Benue State Governor/best man said he decided to honour him because of his commitment to his job. Peter Anyiman has served as a cook for a Catholic Priest for over 18 years.
At intervals the Governor would adjust Peter's tie and dab sweat off his face as a typical bestman would do.

Quite an impressive act of humility by the Governor!

Church Members Mistreat Homeless Man in Church Unaware It Is Their Pastor in Disguise

Pastor Jeremiah Steepek
Pastor Jeremiah Steepek transformed himself into a homeless person and went to the 10,000 member church that he was to be introduced as the head pastor at that morning.
He walked around his soon to be church for 30 minutes while it was filling with people for service, only 3 people out of the 7-10,000 people said hello to him.
He asked people for change to buy food – no one in the church gave him change.
He went into the sanctuary to sit down in the front of the church and was asked by the ushers if he would please sit in the back.
He greeted people to be greeted back with stares and dirty looks, with people looking down on him and judging him.

President GEJ denies ordering 53 gold-plated iPhone 5S worth N682million

I guess alot of you have read the report that the Nigerian government ordered 53 gold-plated iPhone 5S worth N682million Gold and Co, UK. The CEO of Gold and Co who made the statement that started the story later said he was misquoted by the UK Independent that he grandted the intervoew to but teh damage had already been done.

As usual, the Presidency has given a robust response to the allegation and you know....a robust denial too!
Read it below;

''We consider the reports in a section of the media claiming that the Nigerian government had ordered customized gold iPhones from a Dubai-based company to mark the country’s 53rd independence anniversary in October not only false and misleading, but utterly mischievous.
It is instructive that despite the refutation of the story by the company, which ought to have laid the mischief to rest, a number of politically-minded news media continue to insist on promoting the blatant falsehood. We deplore their antics as yet another attempt to use any trick or means possible to discredit President Jonathan’s well-meaning, hardworking and focused administration.

It is certainly a matter of public record and knowledge that since his assumption of office, President Jonathan has ensured that October 1 independence-day anniversaries are low-key, without any pomp or pageantry. Ironically, even this prudence generated criticisms from a cynical and opportunistic segment of the public which alleged, in 2011, and again in 2012, that the President was either too scared to celebrate or that the government was broke.

INDIA: Four men sentenced to death for gang rape & murder.

An Indian court has sentenced four men to death for the rape and murder of a 23-year-old woman in New Delhi. The four men aged between 19 and 28 -- Vinay Sharma, Akshay Thakur, Pawan Gupta and Mukesh Singh – caused an outpour for tougher punishments for sexual abuse due to the brutal nature of the rape.

On December 16 last year, a 23-year-old physiotherapy student had gone to see the movie "The Life of Pi" with a male friend at a New Delhi mall. After the movie, they boarded a bus at a major intersection in upmarket South Delhi. The driver and five other men on the bus were drunk and looking for a "joyride," police said.

The men, dragged the woman to the back of the bus and beat up her male friend then took turns raping the woman, using an iron rod to violate her as the bus drove around the city for almost an hour. When they had finished, they dumped the two victims by the side of the road.
The woman's injuries were so severe that some internal organs had to be removed. She died two weeks later at a hospital in Singapore.

Anger over the deadly assault has had a widespread impact in India. The victim's family, politicians and many other Indians called for the men to be executed.

Do you support the cancellation of pre-nursery school?

Well, Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola on Tuesday decided to do just that! He said,

" We have cancelled pre-nursery in all public schools. Babies in pre-nursery schools should be under their mothers' care and not in school. Mothers should take care of their babies until they are six years old. Children from six years of age to 18 will enjoy free and qualitative education, we are committed to giving our children qualitative education and we won't compromise on this."

The governor also said that his administration was working on a bill to make it mandatory for any civil servant to work for at least three years in rural communities before they could rise beyond Grade Level 12.

This, according to him, is aimed at stopping civil servants from rejecting their postings to work in rural areas.
He said, "Any worker on Level 12 who wants to rise beyond the level must have three years of service in rural communities or such would not rise beyond that level."

Co-joined Nigerian twins successfully seperated in India

Nigerian twins Hassana (left) and Hussaina (right) Badaru were separated during an 18 hour operation in New Delhi. They are pictured after the operation with their parents, Badaru Mannir and Malama Badariyya Badaru.

The twins, who were born with a condition called pygopagus had fused spines, shared a gastrointestinal passage and genitalia. The one year old twins were separated after a marathon operation on August 12.

The Nigerian doctors contacted by the parents of the twins, had said it would not be possible to separate the twins here without sacrificing one of them.

The BLK Super Speciality Hospital in New Delhi had a team of 40 doctors working on the twins for 18 hours in what has been described as a pioneering operation.

The procedures - which cost an estimated £64,000 and were paid for by a Nigerian philanthropist - were so risky that doctors were forced to conduct practice runs on dummies.

I wish the girls a full and speedy recovery.
